From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can expect learning which characters will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
